NERAM

The New England Regional Art Museum (NERAM) is a leading cultural and arts tourism destination with free entry and children’s activities, with a museum café. Open 10am-4pm Tuesday – Sunday.

Armidale Folk Museum

Housed in the magnificent 1863 Armidale Literary Institute, the museum offers a wide range of exhibits showing everyday life and work in the past, documenting the history of Armidale. Open 11am-2pm daily (except Tuesday).

UNE Natural History Museum

Located on the campus of the University of New England, this free museum will delight kids with its range of objects from the UNE zoological, botanical and geological collections. Open Mon – Fri 9.30am-4.30pm

Blue Hole, Armidale

Blue Hole & Thelfall walking track

The Blue Hole is a popular swimming spot, so pack your swimmers and head towards The Weir. Check out the nearby historic hydro-electric scheme on the Threlfall walking track.

Picnic in Central Park

Take a picnic lunch & relax in the grounds of the heritage-listed Central Park. Wander about the cool climate conifers, cedars, Bunya pines, European elms and other mature exotic trees.

Armidale Arboretum

Families will love the children’s playground, aquatic gardens, waterfall and footbridge, with a look-out, toilet block and picnic shelter and BBQ area.

Mother of Ducks Lagoon Nature Reserve

Located in Guyra, 37km north of Armidale, the Nature Reserve is a rare breeding place for several freshwater wetland bird species and a resting place for numerous migratory birds. Visit the observation platform for scenic views of this rare montane wetland.

Dumaresq Dam Reserve

An idyllic location for picnicking and BBQs. Kids will love the new children’s playground, jetty and walking tracks. There’s also a boat ramp for canoes and kayaks and free camping.
