Dichterliebe (“A Poet’s Love”) consists of sixteen short songs that take the audience (and performer) on a vivid journey through love and loss – its exhilarating highs and crushing lows. Schumann masterfully sets the stunning poetry of Heinrich Heine, creating songs that are arrestingly beautiful in their word painting, vivid in their imagery, and sublime in their musicality.
