Led by the talented Bellingen saxophonist, Roger Burke, RBQ-Plus dives into the captivating sounds of Hard Bop and Post-Bop jazz from the 1950s-60s, celebrating the works of music legends like Miles Davis, Horace Silver, Art Blakey, Charles Mingus, Hank Mobley and others. For over 18 years, the Roger Burke Quartet (RBQ) has been a mainstay at Bellingen’s Federal Hotel, earning a reputation as one of the finest jazz ensembles in regional NSW. Recently expanded to a Quintet (RBQ-Plus), the band features: Roger Burke (saxophone – Bellingen); Ash Hall (trumpet – Armidale); James Brinkhoff (piano – Armidale); Bruce Stephen (double bass – Bellingen); Cary Bennett (drums – Armidale).
